create_spreadsheet_in_folder

Create a new empty Google Sheet in a Drive folder — for light builds, or when you have no local filesystem.

writeGoogle Sheets, Docs & Drive

For a multi-tab workbook (more than ~15 write/format calls), build an .xlsx locally and import it in one call with start_drive_upload (mimeType = the xlsx type, convertTo = 'application/vnd.google-apps.spreadsheet'); formulas, formats, notes, frozen panes, dropdowns and charts survive the conversion.
