# How to Write Amazon Listings with AI in Google Sheets (https://sellersheetai.com/zh/guides/write-amazon-listings-with-ai-in-google-sheets)

> Draft Amazon listing copy with AI in Google Sheets — from a product photo, a competitor's listing or your own — check every length, translate it for other marketplaces and send it to the Publish Queue.

<Callout title="TL;DR">
  * The **Listing Drafts** tab is your writing desk: one row per listing, with your notes on the left and the AI's copy on the right.
  * Start a row from a competitor, a reference ASIN or your own listing. Write **Instructions** and **Draft Keywords**, click the row, then click **Image → Listing (AI)**, **Optimize Listing (AI)** or **Optimize Title (AI)**.
  * Check the live character counts and translate with **Translate Listing (AI)**. Then click **Send to Publish Queue**; you publish from the Publish Queue.

In a chat window you copy each field by hand, count the characters, and start again for every country. Here each listing is one row: the AI writes into the listing fields, the sheet counts the characters, one click translates for every marketplace, and the copy goes straight into the Publish Queue's columns. The AI is told to use only what your photo and Instructions say — still read every line.

In this guide **myStore-US** writes a listing for a new product, the open-ear earbuds **EB-OPEN-BLK**, and rewrites the title of an existing one, **EB-PRO-BLK**. Then it translates the new listing for Germany, France and Spain.

Other languages go to Translate Listing (AI). Then Send to Publish Queue, choose the Operation Type and validate" src="__img0" />

## Before you start [#before-you-start]

* Connect your store at [sellersheetai.com](https://sellersheetai.com/home) and install the sidebar ([Install & first sync](/help/sheets/install)).
* In the sidebar's **Catalogs** panel, click **Catalog** under **Resources** to open the **SellerSheet Catalog** spreadsheet. Go to the **Listing Drafts** tab and expand the **Listing Drafts** group in the sidebar.
* The AI buttons are billed from your **Credits** balance, and refunded if a call fails.

## The tab [#the-tab]

From row 4, one draft per row. Columns with ✎ are yours; the AI columns are written by the buttons, and you can edit them.

## Write a new listing [#write-a-new-listing]

<Steps>
  <Step>
    ### Start the row [#start-the-row]

    The fastest start is the winner of your [competitor research](/guides/research-amazon-competitors-in-google-sheets). On **Catalog Research**, type your SKU in the winner row (row 4) and click **Copy Winner to Drafts**. A new row appears here with the store, your SKU, the competitor's ASIN, image, product type and copy.

    Other ways to start:

    * **Fetch by ASIN:** type the store and a reference ASIN, then click it. Every row with a store, an ASIN and an empty Image fills its image, product type and Draft Listing.
    * **Type it:** fill the store, SKU and product type, and paste in **Image** a public link that opens the photo itself.

    If the ASIN is a competitor's, you can clear the ASIN cell once the row is filled. The AI buttons don't use it, and **Send to Publish Queue** would copy it to the Publish Queue.
  </Step>

  <Step>
    ### Guide the AI [#guide-the-ai]

    Write in **Instructions** what only you know: `Open-ear, 32H battery, IPX5. Sporty tone, no medical claims.` Put the search terms you want in **Draft Keywords**: `open ear earbuds, ear hook headphones`.
  </Step>

  <Step>
    ### Click the row, then an AI button [#click-the-row-then-an-ai-button]

    Pick the button by what the row has: no copy yet, **Image → Listing (AI)**; copy in Draft Listing, **Optimize Listing (AI)**; only the title to fix, **Optimize Title (AI)**. Click any cell in the draft row (row 4 or below), then:

    * **Image → Listing (AI)** writes a complete listing from the photo, the Instructions and the Draft Keywords. The AI must use every Draft Keyword. It doesn't read Draft Listing.
    * **Optimize Listing (AI)** rewrites the Draft Listing — the competitor's copy, say — into your own, using the photo, Instructions and Draft Keywords.

    The sidebar says **AI listing written.** The AI columns fill: title, highlight, five bullets, description, backend search terms that use Amazon's 250-byte budget, PPC keyword ideas, and the A+ and image ideas. Each click replaces that row's AI columns, including your edits. For EB-OPEN-BLK the start of it could read:

    | Field                   | Example                                                                   |
    | ----------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
    | AI Item Name | myBrand Open Ear Earbuds, Bluetooth 5.3, 32H Playtime, IPX5, Sport, Black |
    | AI Item Highlight | Open-Ear Comfort, Secure Ear Hooks |
    | AI Bullet Point (first) | OPEN-EAR DESIGN — hear the traffic around you while the music plays |
  </Step>

  <Step>
    ### Review the copy [#review-the-copy]

        <img alt="Two Listing Drafts rows. EB-OPEN-BLK, written with Image → Listing (AI), has a 73-character AI Item Name. EB-PRO-BLK's title was lengthened by hand to 96 characters: its Item Name Chars cell shows 96 in amber and is outlined" src="__img1" />

    Read and edit the AI columns like any cell. Watch the counts:

    * **Item Name Chars** turns amber over 74 — Amazon shows the Item Highlight only when the title is shorter than 75 characters — and red over 200.
    * **Highlight Chars** turns amber over 125, Amazon's limit for the Item Highlight.
  </Step>

  <Step>
    ### Send to Publish Queue [#send-to-publish-queue]

    1. On the **Publish Queue**, type the same store in **A3** and the language in **B3**. Type the product type in **D7** and click **Get Template** — only columns already on the Publish Queue receive copy. Then clear **D7**, so the next step can use that row.
    2. Back on Listing Drafts, click the row and click **Send to Publish Queue**. The SKU, product type, ASIN and AI copy go into the first empty Publish Queue row, and **Action** is stamped.
    3. On the Publish Queue, choose `UPDATE` in **Operation Type** for a new listing. Fill the brand, the product ID and the other required columns (their names are gold), then **Validate (Preview)**. See [Bulk create & revise](/guides/bulk-create-revise-amazon-listings-in-google-sheets).

    <Callout type="warn" title="A competitor's ASIN comes along">
      The draft's ASIN lands in the Publish Queue's **Merchant Suggested ASIN**. If it is a competitor's, clear that cell before you validate. Left in place, it lists your SKU on the competitor's product. Fill your own **External Product ID** instead.
    </Callout>
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Rewrite a listing you already sell [#rewrite-a-listing-you-already-sell]

1. Type the store and your SKU (**EB-PRO-BLK**) on a row and click **Fetch by SKU**. The row fills with your live copy in Draft Listing, its product type, image and ASIN.
2. Write what to change in **Instructions**, then click **Optimize Listing (AI)** for all the copy, or **Optimize Title (AI)** for the title and highlight only.
3. **Send to Publish Queue**, then choose `PARTIAL_UPDATE` on the Publish Queue: it changes only the cells you send and keeps the rest of the listing. Here the ASIN is your own, so keep it — a `PARTIAL_UPDATE` needs it.

**Optimize Title (AI)** works from the AI columns, and from Draft Listing only while the AI columns are empty. Like every AI button, it keeps the title under 75 characters so the highlight shows.

## Translate for other marketplaces [#translate-for-other-marketplaces]

<img alt="The Listing Drafts · Translations tab: three rows for EB-OPEN-BLK — myStore-DE with de_DE and a German title, Status OK; myStore-FR with fr_FR and a French title, Status OK; and myStore-ES with es_ES, its Status empty and outlined, waiting to be translated" src="__img2" />

1. On the **Listing Drafts · Translations** tab, add one row per language. **Store:** your store name with the target country code, such as `myStore-DE`. **SKU:** the same SKU as the draft. **Locale:** pick it from the dropdown, such as de_DE. Leave **Status** empty.
2. On **Listing Drafts**, click the draft row and click **Translate Listing (AI)**. One call translates every waiting language and marks each row `OK`. It translates the listing copy in the AI columns as it is now, your edits included.
3. To send a translation, set the Publish Queue's **A3** to `myStore-DE` and **B3 Listing Locale** to de_DE. Then click its row on the Translations tab and click **Send to Publish Queue**.

To translate a language again, clear its Status and click Translate Listing (AI) again.

## Set the lengths you want [#set-the-lengths-you-want]

In the sidebar's **Settings** tab, **AI Length Preferences** sets the longest copy the AI writes. Change a value and click **Save preferences**.

| Setting             | Range    | Default |
| ------------------- | -------- | ------- |
| Item Name           | 45–75    | 75      |
| Item Highlight      | 65–125   | 115     |
| Bullet Point (each) | 100–200  | 200     |
| Product Description | 300–1000 | 1000    |

The AI writes up to the limit, but an AI title always stays under 75 characters, so the highlight shows: at the default it aims for 65–74. Set Item Name lower for shorter titles.

## Tricks [#tricks]

* **One row per click.** The AI buttons and Send to Publish Queue work on the row you clicked, the top one if you selected several. The fetch buttons do every waiting row at once.
* **Fetch again:** a fetch runs only on rows whose **Image** is empty. Clear Image to fetch a row again — and note that a fetch overwrites Draft Listing and Product Type, so type your own changes after fetching.
* **Several photos:** type their URLs in Image, separated by commas. Image → Listing (AI) and Optimize Listing (AI) send them all.
* **Sending twice adds two rows.** Send to Publish Queue always uses a new, empty row; check **Action** to see which drafts already went.

## Frequently asked questions [#frequently-asked-questions]

### Do the AI buttons cost credits? [#do-the-ai-buttons-cost-credits]

Yes. Each click of an AI button is billed from your Credits balance, and refunded if the call fails. Translate Listing is billed per language. The fetch buttons and Send to Publish Queue are free.

### Which row does an AI button work on? [#which-row-does-an-ai-button-work-on]

The row you clicked — one row per click. If several rows are selected, the top one is used. Click a draft row, row 4 or below, before you click the button. On rows 1–3 the button stops before any credit is used.

### Why is my AI title amber? [#why-is-my-ai-title-amber]

Item Name Chars turns amber over 74 characters, because Amazon shows the Item Highlight only when the title is shorter than 75 characters. Shorten it by hand, or run Optimize Title (AI), which rewrites it under 75.

### Does Send to Publish Queue publish the listing? [#does-send-to-publish-queue-publish-the-listing]

No. It copies the SKU, product type, ASIN and AI copy into the first empty Publish Queue row. You choose the Operation Type there, add the product ID and the other required columns, validate, and publish.
