ChatGPT connects to remote MCP servers as a custom connector in developer mode.

## Prerequisites [#prerequisites]

* A SellerSheet account with a connected store — [Connect your store](/docs/start/connect).
* A paid ChatGPT plan — developer mode is available on paid plans.

## Step 1: Copy the SellerSheet MCP URL [#step-1-copy-the-sellersheet-mcp-url]

## Step 2: Add SellerSheet in ChatGPT [#step-2-add-sellersheet-in-chatgpt]

1. In ChatGPT, open **Settings → Apps & Connectors → Advanced settings** and turn on **Developer mode**.
2. Back in **Apps & Connectors**, choose **Create**, name it `SellerSheet`, and paste `https://sellersheetai.com/mcp` as the MCP server URL with OAuth authentication.

## Step 3: Sign in and test [#step-3-sign-in-and-test]

1. Sign in to SellerSheet when the browser asks, then enable the connector in a chat.
2. Ask: "Which stores can you see?" Your agent calls `get_user_context` and lists your store refs, such as <StoreRef />, with your plan and each store's status. Every session should start there.

## Troubleshooting [#troubleshooting]

### "Unauthorized" (401) [#unauthorized-401]

Your sign-in or key expired or was deleted. Sign in again, or create a new key.

### The browser never opens [#the-browser-never-opens]

Update the client — older versions don't support MCP sign-in — or use an [API key](/docs/mcp-api/keys).

### "No stores" [#no-stores]
