# Create FBA shipments (https://sellersheetai.com/docs/mcp-api/workflows/fba-shipments)

> The whole Send-to-Amazon run — plan, pack, compare placement fees, pick transport, print labels, upload tracking — by conversation or by code, with your STA sheet as the record.

<Callout title="In short">
  One sentence starts the plan. You see Amazon's placement fees before anything is confirmed. Labels and tracking follow. Every step is a tool your agent calls — and your own code can call the same tool with the same arguments.
</Callout>

## The shipment day, step by step [#the-shipment-day-step-by-step]

<Steps>
  <Step>
    ### Start with one sentence [#start-with-one-sentence]

    "Create an FBA shipment for these 5 SKUs, 40 units each." `fbaInbound_orchestrate_packing` creates the inbound plan and starts Amazon's packing, placement and transport options in one call. `fbaInbound_create_sta_sheet` gives you an STA spreadsheet that records the whole run.
  </Step>

  <Step>
    ### Compare placement fees before you commit [#compare-placement-fees-before-you-commit]

    `fbaInbound_listPlacementOptions` shows Amazon's warehouse splits with their fees — often the difference between a free split across several warehouses and a paid single destination. You pick; your agent runs `fbaInbound_confirm_plan_options`, which confirms placement and transport in one step. Confirming cannot be undone for that plan, so the money is shown first.
  </Step>

  <Step>
    ### Pack, label, hand over to the carrier [#pack-label-hand-over-to-the-carrier]

    `fbaInbound_setPackingInformation` records what went into each box. `fbaInbound_create_packing_list` writes the packing list from Amazon's own box IDs, `fbaInbound_get_labels` downloads the box-label PDF into the plan folder, and `fbaInbound_createMarketplaceItemLabels` prints FNSKU labels when your products need them.
  </Step>

  <Step>
    ### Track it until Amazon checks it in [#track-it-until-amazon-checks-it-in]

    `fbaInbound_updateShipmentTrackingDetails` uploads the carrier's tracking. `fbaInbound_sync_shipment_status` answers "has Amazon received it yet?" on any day after. Delivering it yourself? `fbaInbound_getSelfShipAppointmentSlots` and `fbaInbound_scheduleSelfShipAppointment` book the dock appointment.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Try asking [#try-asking]

> "Create an FBA shipment for SKU-A ×40 and SKU-B ×24 from my warehouse — show me the placement options and fees before you confirm anything."

## Step 2, both ways [#step-2-both-ways]

The same tool and the same arguments — through your AI client, or from your own code.

**MCP** — you ask: "Show me the placement options and fees for this plan before confirming anything." Your agent calls `fbaInbound_listPlacementOptions`, lays the splits and fees out for you, and waits for your pick.

<ToolCall tool="fbaInbound_listPlacementOptions" args="{ plan_id: "<plan id from step 1>" }" />

<Callout type="warn" title="Write access required">
  Creating plans, confirming options, packing and uploading tracking change your seller account, so the store needs write access (see [Stay in control](/docs/mcp-api/control)). Reading plans, options and status works with read access.
</Callout>

## Tools on this page [#tools-on-this-page]

Pulled from the catalog at build time, each with its own access label. The workflow tools above call the single-step tools below for you; reach for those when you want to run one step on its own. Most generate/list pairs are asynchronous: *generate* starts the job on Amazon, *list* reads its result.

## FAQ [#faq]

### Can I check stock before I plan? [#can-i-check-stock-before-i-plan]

Yes — `fbaInventory_getInventorySummaries` returns Amazon's live fulfillable and inbound counts for the SKUs you are about to send. See [FBA inventory](/docs/mcp-api/workflows/fba-inventory).

### Will my agent pick an option for me? [#will-my-agent-pick-an-option-for-me]

Not unless you name the rule ("always take the cheapest placement"). Otherwise it shows you the options and waits.

### Can I do this in the Google Sheets add-on instead? [#can-i-do-this-in-the-google-sheets-add-on-instead]

Yes — the FBA panel of the add-on runs the same steps from the STA sheet. See the [add-on buttons](/help/sheets/buttons#sellers-fba).

### Is there a skill for this? [#is-there-a-skill-for-this]

Yes — the `fba-inbound` skill walks your agent through the whole run. See [Install the skills](/docs/start/skills).
