# get_sheet_cell (https://sellersheetai.com/docs/mcp-api/tools/get_sheet_cell)

> Read everything about a cell or a small range in one call: value, formula, format, note, hyperlink and dropdown.

Access: **READ** · toolset google_workspace · family null

Replaces read_sheet + read_sheet_format + get_sheet_notes when the AI needs a cell's complete state. To pick a dropdown value: read the cell's dropdown here, then write one of its values exactly as listed with write_sheet — a write is not checked against the list (even a strict one): any other value is kept and only marked invalid on the sheet.

## Call it

MCP tool call:

```json
{
  "name": "get_sheet_cell",
  "arguments": {
    "spreadsheet_id": "<spreadsheet_id>",
    "range_": "<range_>"
  }
}
```

Tool API (early access — contact us):

```bash
curl -X POST https://api.sellersheetai.com/api/v1/tools/get_sheet_cell \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $SELLERSHEET_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"spreadsheet_id":"<spreadsheet_id>","range_":"<range_>"}'
```

## Arguments

| Name | Type | Required | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| `spreadsheet_id` | string | yes | the spreadsheet ID (from its URL or get_sheet_metadata). |
| `range_` | string | yes | A1 range, e.g. 'Summary!A1' or 'Summary!A1:C10'. A multi-cell range returns every cell in data.cells. A range of more than 500 cells is refused; use read_sheet or read_sheet_format for larger ranges. |
| `include` | object[] | | the groups to read; omit for all. Allowed: value \| format \| note \| hyperlink \| dropdown. Ask only for what you need — format is about 1 KB a cell, so checking dropdowns on a row is include=['value', 'dropdown']. |

## Result

- `data.cells[r][c]` — one dict per cell, padded to the full range, with the fields of the groups asked for — value: {value, formatted_value, formula, effective_value} (value is what was entered, a formula cell gives its formula; effective_value is the computed result); format: {user_entered_format, effective_format}; note; hyperlink; dropdown: {values, strict} for a list, {source_range, strict} for a list fed by a range, or null — the same shape add_sheet_dropdown writes and echoes.
- `data.rows / data.cols` — the grid size.
- `data.row / data.col` — the 0-based origin of the top-left cell. The top-left cell's fields also appear flat on data.

## Example

- get_sheet_cell("1ABC...", "Summary!B5") get_sheet_cell("1ABC...", "Plan!K9:N9", include=["value", "dropdown"])
